Chapter 10 Phoenix was woken up by a banging on the door. She slowly rubbed her tired eyes, rising from the sofa and glaring at the clock. It was twenty three minutes to four. She had been home since half past, so she must've only had five minutes to sleep. She felt tired, more tired than she had felt in months. The hallway seemed to reach out towards the front door as Phoenix slowly walked along it, the walls spinning in front of her eyes. The corridor seemed to twist around, contorting itself around her brain. She grabbed onto the door handle, more to steady herself than to turn it. Chapter 9 Phoenix slowly crouched down and walked along the stone corridor, feeling her way along it with her fading light and the stone blocks to her right. It was getting narrower and the ceiling was lowering. Shining the dim light onto her scrap of paper, she read a vague direction. She gestured her arm to the blackness beyond. 'Further on, then to the right... At least I hope it is,' she whispered, breaking the silence. It was like being in the catacombs underneath Paris, only with much less light.
